As a Special Counsel at Albert Arthur Lawyers, Ko Ko Aung specializes in immigration law, offering comprehensive services to individuals and corporate clients across various visa categories. With nearly five years of experience, he adeptly manages complex cases involving refugee and humanitarian claims, citizenship, and deportation.

Ko Ko moved to Australia in 2012 to study law, driven by the evolving political landscape in Myanmar. After graduating, he focused on immigration law to support Burmese refugees, particularly following the 2021 military coup. In 2023, Ko Ko joined the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (AALA). Beyond his legal practice, he has contributed to the HIV/AIDS Legal Centre, the Kaldor Centre for Refugee Law, and the ASRC Afghanistan Clinic.

As an immigration advisor for the Australian branch of the National Unity Government of Myanmar, he provides vital support amid the political turmoil in Myanmar. Koko’s dedication to community involvement is evident through his leadership roles in various societies. He engages with the Burmese community in Australia, as well as executive positions with the University of New South Wales Buddhist Society and the University of New South Wales Myanmar Student Society.

His work has been honoured with awards such as the “John Gibson AM Young Australian Migration Lawyer of the Year”, “Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30” in Migration category, and NSW Humanitarian Awards by the Refugee Council of Australia and STARTTS (NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors) in the “Outstanding Government and Legal” category. Ko Ko’s mission is to use his expertise to help individuals achieve their migration goals while protecting their rights and dignity.
