Skilled Regional - Subclass 191 Visa (Permanent Visa)

The Permanent Residence (subclass 191) visa is a permanent visa, for holders of an eligible visa or passport. There are two streams in this visa program:

  1. Stream 1 – Regional Provisional Stream
  2. Stream 2 – Hong Kong Stream

Regional Provisional Stream

The Regional Provisional Stream is available for holders of either a subclass 491 visa or a subclass 494 visa who have been holding the eligible visa for at least 3 years whilst living and working in a regional area.

The subclass 191 visa applicants in this stream must also provide evidence of their taxable income for the 3-year period whilst living and working in a regional area. The Minister may set the minimum income requirements relevant to this stream.

Hong Kong Stream

This stream is for holders of Hong Kong or British National Overseas passports who have been holding either a subclass 457, 482, or 485 visa for at least 3 years.

Adding Dependent Applicants on the 191 Visa Application

An applicant may include their family members, such as partner and/or children, at the same time when the skilled regional 191 visa  application is lodged, or during the processing of the application.

Any family members cannot be included after the subclass 191 visa is granted. Rather, the subclass 191 visa holder may sponsor the family member on another type of visa, such as a partner visa.
